Honeycombs are hexagons, but squished. They are the key shape in the beautiful and popular Patchwork of the Crosses, but they're also incredibly versatile. They tile in so many interesting and fun ways!
For perhaps over 400 years, English Paper Piecing has been used to make beautiful, heirloom quilts. It’s meditative, portable, simple, and perfect for fabric scraps or fussy cutting.
All of our paper pieces are laser cut for accuracy from high-quality 100% post consumer, recycled paper, and packaged in recycled and recyclable packaging. The quantities in each packet are determined by the most efficient way to cut a large sheet of paper. You will receive the number of paper pieces listed in the options. Listing is for paper pieces only.
Honeycombs are measured along one side, and all sides are equal.
Patchwork of the Crosses photos kindly provided by Lucy Bath. These quilt blocks use 1" honeycombs and will be stitched together into a quilt top using 1" squares to join them.
My Sprout Mini Quilt uses 132 1.5" honeycombs for a 23" x 29" finish. Click here for the tutorial.
